Happy Gas for Extractions

At Surry Hills Dental Care we offer the Happy gas inhaler when nervous or for more involved procedures like extractions. This is in the form of a hand held inhaler which you would control the use of whenever needed. The procedure becomes much like a distant procedure and the spacey feeling only lasts for up to half an hour afterwards.

General Procedure for extractions
When restoration procedures such as root canal therapy, crowns, or fillings are not enough to save a tooth, it may need to be pulled, or extracted.

Tooth extraction procedures today are far less painful than ever before, thanks to powerful anesthetics and sedatives. In many cases, a patient who has tooth pulled experiences little or no discomfort, and only minor bleeding.

Patients with extracted teeth sometimes need to take an antibiotic, and at the very least, take precautions following the procedure to ensure that infection doesn’t occur.

Smoking, vigorous brushing and rinsing, and drinking liquids through straws are discouraged during the post-operative period because they hinder healing and may cause the wound to open. Cold compresses applied to the outside cheek near the extraction area can help reduce any swelling and promote faster healing.

Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of the upper and lower normal adult mouth. Unfortunately, most people experience problems from wisdom teeth; in most cases, this is because the teeth erupt too close to existing permanent teeth, causing crowding, improper bites, and other problems.

If wisdom teeth are causing a problem and are not pulled, they can sometimes become impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth can be extremely painful, as well as harmful to your oral health. Symptoms are easy to spot: severe discomfort, inflammation, and some kinds of infections.

Many people need to have their wisdom teeth extracted to avoid future serious problems. In general, the lack of the four wisdom teeth does not hamper one’s ability to properly bite down, speak or eat.

Dr Ash and his friendly and relaxed team were very accommodating. They fit me in an emergency slot first thing in the morning and fixed my toothache immediately and I was able to go into work that day.. very happy with their service and price too.

I went to see my regular dentist and was referred to a specialist surgeon for removing my wisdom teeth. I was told I needed to be asleep for the procedure at a private hospital but I couldn’t afford that. My friend recommended to try Surry Hills Dental as they have a good reputation for removing wisdom teeth. I was made an appointment to see Dr. Ash. I had a consultation with their team over the phone regarding the procedure and risks and on my first visit to their lovely cozy practice I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed! I got this done in the chair with the happy gas in less than an hour for about a quarter of the price I was quoted by the specialist and hospital… I’m so grateful I found this practice and will be seeing Dr. Ash for further check ups and treatment

My experience couldn’t have been better! Dr.Wu removed all 4 wisdom teeth (not easy cases either) and made it such a relaxing, safe and quick procedure. I was quite nervous going into the appointment but immediately started to feel calm and relaxed - thank you to the friendly, personable and accommodating staff. It was an excellent environment and I weirdly I had the best time from start to finish. What was even better was my recovery. I experienced only one day of soreness and after that I healed in less than a week. I seriously couldn’t rate my experience higher.
